Change is difficult for most people. Whether large or small, change takes us out of our comfort level and into new territory, and adds to the complexity of life, at least for a while.
Think about it – a replacement credit card in the mail means you have to change all of your information on any accounts that may be automatically paid by that card. Insignificant change, right? But, it means you first have to research which accounts you have attached to the card, then for each on-line account, look up your user name and password, log in and change your payment information. Regardless of how many accounts there are, this is, for a while anyway, an additional burden on your already jam-packed day. Darn change!
On the other end of the spectrum, consider a move. Talk about a change! First you have to find representation, then find your new “homeâ€, negotiate a deal, deal with paperwork, purge and pack, change all of your address-related items, deal with utilities and phones/computer-related items, move, decorate/unpack, and on and on.
That’s why change happens for a reason. People don’t just go changing things willy-nilly. (Full disclosure: Okay, sometimes I change the furniture and my only reason is boredom with the layout. That’s a bit willy-nilly.) Maybe it’s a new job that you’re passionate about or that provides a better lifestyle. (Hopefully both!) Or moving to a larger or smaller space. Or moving across the country. Or getting married, having children, getting divorced, retiring, experiencing a death…we all have a lot of changes in our life, some of which we have limited control over.
Sure, change is scary. But change is also exciting. It’s new opportunity. It’s a change in the course of the future. It’s, as they say, the spice of life.
Our futures are always changing, and sometimes we have limited or no control. (Image being a typewriter salesperson when computers became popular. There was no way to stop that tidal wave of change!)
Believe me, we understand the feelings change evokes. As a commercial real estate team that attempts to stay on top of the tidal wave of change in our industry, we have learned to use change as an opportunity for growth and development, to overcome new challenges, explore new horizons, and redefine goals. You can’t always control change, but you don’t have to let it control you either!
As experienced agents of change, we are ready to walk you through your real estate transaction, and make your change experience as positive as possible.
Wishing you the best in your change!
